Privacy Policy

Application: IP Web Camera • Effective Date: September 23, 2026

🛡️ Zero-Cloud Privacy Guarantee

IP Web Camera is designed with privacy-by-architecture. Your camera video and microphone audio are processed purely in ephemeral device memory (RAM) and streamed exclusively across your local Wi-Fi or hotspot subnet. Your camera stream is never uploaded, recorded, or routed through any external cloud server.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how IP Web Camera ("we", "our", or "the application") handles your information when you use our Android mobile application. We are committed to transparency, compliance with Google Play Developer Policies, and protecting your digital rights under GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy standards.

2. Information We Process

A. Camera & Video Data (Ephemeral Only)

The application captures frames from your device camera using AndroidX CameraX purely to stream them as live video to authorized web browsers on your local network. Video frames are held temporarily in device memory (RAM) and immediately discarded. We do not record, save, store, or transmit your video to any remote server or cloud database.

B. Audio Data (Ephemeral Only)

When you enable audio streaming ("Listen Live"), the application reads microphone input via Android AudioRecord and streams raw audio chunks to connected local clients. No audio recordings are ever saved to local storage or uploaded to any third party.

C. Local Network & Wi-Fi Information

The application reads local network interface state (Wi-Fi SSID, local IPv4 address) strictly to bind the embedded HTTP streaming server (e.g. http://192.168.x.x:8080) and to display connection instructions to the user. This data remains on your device.

3. Device Permissions & Why We Request Them

In compliance with Google Play's Prominent In-App Disclosure policy, the application displays a disclosure dialog and requests the following runtime permissions strictly for functional purposes:

Permission Type Functional Purpose
android.permission.CAMERA Dangerous / Runtime To capture live video frames for local network streaming.
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO Dangerous / Runtime To capture microphone audio for the real-time "Listen Live" feature.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CAMERA
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE
Foreground Service Required by Android 14+ so streaming continues seamlessly when you multitask or lock the screen.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS Runtime (Android 13+) To display streaming telemetry and allow stopping the camera directly from the notification tray.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Normal To detect Wi-Fi connectivity and retrieve the local streaming IP address.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

To support ongoing development while keeping the application free, we use the following third-party service:

Google AdMob & Google Mobile Ads SDK

We display non-intrusive advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. Google AdMob may collect and process device identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID / GAID), coarse location, and app diagnostics in accordance with Google's Advertising Policies:

Consent Management (UMP / GDPR)

For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom (UK), we implement Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to request and record your consent for personalized or non-personalized advertising.

5. Security of Your Stream

Because the built-in HTTP server operates on your local network, anyone connected to the same Wi-Fi router could potentially navigate to the stream URL. To protect your privacy, we provide:

  • Password Protection: You can enable HTTP authentication in Security Settings to mandate a username and password.
  • Session Token Invalidation: Generate new tokens with one tap to immediately disconnect all active viewers.
  • OLED Screen Protection: Use the dark sleep mode to prevent onlookers from viewing your camera screen while streaming.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Our application is not targeted towards children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate measures.

7. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to opt-out of personalized advertising by resetting your Google Advertising ID or enabling "Delete Advertising ID" in your Android system settings under Settings > Privacy > Ads.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be reflected on this page with an updated Effective Date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
